The story
Everyone in the tropics knows the smell — the five minutes before a storm, when the wind turns and the pavement gives up the heat of the day. It is the smell of permission: to stay in, to close the laptop, to watch the rain instead.
First Rain is our attempt to bottle those five minutes. A mineral rain accord sits on top, green and slightly metallic, the way air smells when it is about to break. Vetiver — a grass root, earthy and cool — carries the middle, and oakmoss settles underneath like wet ground. It is the least conventional scent we make, and the one people stand closest to.
How it is made
Petrichor does not come from a flower, so neither does this formula — it is built almost entirely from roots, mosses and mineral accords rather than the usual floral materials. If you have ever wanted your home to smell like the weather rather than a garden, this is that.
Where it lives — A desk, a reading chair, anywhere you go to be unhurried.
