The story

The hour before sleep is the only hour with nothing left in it. No more messages, no more decisions — just a lamp, a book you may or may not open, and a room slowly going quiet. Drift was composed for that hour.

Lavender is the obvious choice for sleep, which is exactly why we were careful with it. Used carelessly it smells like a pharmacy shelf. Here it is dosed gently and settled over Roman chamomile, which softens it into something closer to dried flowers than disinfectant. Underneath, cedarwood does the quiet work — the note your nose stops noticing but your shoulders don't.

How it is made

We kept the lavender concentration deliberately low and let the cedarwood base carry the room instead. The result reads as warm rather than floral — you notice it most in the first minute after you walk in, which is the minute that matters.

Where it lives — The bedside table, or a shelf near the pillow side of the bed.
