The story
Somewhere in everyone's memory of this region there is a garden — a grandmother's pots of lemongrass and lime, the smell of leaves just after watering, an afternoon stretched long on a shaded veranda. Veranda is composed from that memory.
Lemongrass is usually treated as a spa cliché. We treat it as an ingredient: bright and grassy on top, sharpened by torn kaffir lime leaf, warmed from below by fresh ginger. There is nothing powdery or perfumed about it — it is a green scent, alive and a little peppery, and it clears a room the way opening two windows does.
How it is made
Every material in Veranda is one you could find in a wet market, which was the discipline we set ourselves: nothing abstract, nothing invented. It is the scent in our range most often described as “awake”, and the one we reach for on days that need a clear head.
